Current Project:

put my finger in your mouth
The Right Brain Project is proud to announce our first late-night production, penned by Bob Fisher of the Chicago Mammals. PUT MY FINGER IN YOUR MOUTH is the story of Turtle and Birdy, two unlikely sisters who fall deep down their own personal rabbit holes. A contemporary fairy tale full of action, violence, danger, dancing, and a heavy dose of witty eroticism, the Right Brain Project delivers a bed-time story unlike any other! Submit Your Script!

Franz Kafka's The Castle
The RBP has ambitious plans for next year, and we are accepting original scripts for consideration for our next season!

Our current goal is to produce a four-six show season full of the types of productions that audiences are beginning to expect from the RBP. What does that mean exactly? Primarily, this means adhering to our mission statement:

By defying preconceived notions, the Right Brain Project strives to creatively challenge mediocrity within the contemporary theatre experience. The RBP will actively employ the raw and intimate relationship between actor and audience to share stories, ideas, and issues that edify us all.

If you've never had the opportunity to see an RBP production before, please browse the site. Right Brain Project productions typically strive to defy convention, not only in our choice of material, but in presentation. But at the end of the day, it's the story and the relationship between actor and audience that we feel defines us.

While we're proud of all of our productions, Francis Sadac's review in his blog FROM THE LEDGE of AND THEY PUT HANDCUFFS ON THE FLOWERS summed up everything we strive for. He described the production as "... comprised of innovative, can-do directorial fervor, bravely naked (both literally and emotionally) acting, and yes, challenging material that will provoke a variety of reactions from the audience, from repulsion, attractive, discomfort, admiration, inspiration... I'm now a new fan of the Right Brain Project and I really look forward to seeing some more of their work... This is the kind of Chicago storefront production that I, as a theater-savvy, culturally-broadminded audience member, would like to champion and advocate for..."

The Modern Prometheus

An original script by Brad Lawrence (playwright of CHALK) will see its production at the RBP Rorschach in October 2009. Influenced by Mary Shelley's FRANKENSTEIN, THE MODERN PROMETHEUS promises to bring a unique twist to the classic tale, just in time for Halloween. See the link above for your chance to audition for this heady take on Shelley's timeless creation.
